The Committee on Religious Liberty is a 50-year-old organization founded by the National Council of Churches. Currently housed in the Religious Freedom Center, this national committee is comprised of religious and civil liberties leaders representing a broad spectrum of religious and ideological perspectives who review, discuss, and address legal cases impacting religious liberty guarantees and interpretations. An active member of the Committee on Religious Liberty, GPF is one of several organizations represented on the Committee that are committed to addressing religious liberty issues across the United States. In this capacity, GPF’s focus is addressing the encroachment of government and courts who are attempting to usurp the guarantees and protections of religious freedom enshrined in the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
