Fifty-four teachers from Sekolah Rakyat Bogor Foundation attended the first Training of Trainers Power of Rupiah program in Megamendung Puncak, a beautiful mountainous area in Bogor in the West Java province of Indonesia, on July 16, 2011. The event was jointly organized by Global Peace Foundation Indonesia and Sekolah Rakyat Bogor.
The training program sought to promote a culture of giving through expanding GPF Indonesia’s Power of Rupiah campaign into schools throughout the region. The rupiah is a very small Indonesian currency, which even children can donate.
The training program sought to inform teachers about the program and expand the values of giving and living for others among teachers, their students, families, and communities. The program included presentations on GPF projects, the importance of building common ground beyond ethnic and religious boundaries, and personal character development as the basis for harmonious families and a peaceful society.
Educators expressed great interest in the practice of living for others through the Power of Rupiah and committed to expanding the program and encouraging their students to develop a culture of service in their schools and neighborhoods.
