In April 2025, Global Peace Foundation (GPF) Cambodia advanced its mission of fostering moral and innovative leadership by implementing a series of impactful youth-centered initiatives. Under the umbrella of the Youth Development Program, key projects such as Youth4Peace (Y4P), the One Korea Global Campaign (OKGC), and Young Bridging Leaders (YBL) were carried out, targeting young people across Phnom Penh city and beyond. The focus of these initiatives was to cultivate values-based leadership and strengthen the community through education, service, and collaboration. Throughout the month, 353 individuals participated in various activities, including students, educators, NGO representatives, and youth leaders.

A key focus in April was the groundwork laid for the Youth4Peace (Y4P) Program, Global Peace Foundation Cambodia’s flagship youth leadership initiative aimed at equipping young people with the skills and values needed to become ethical and compassionate leaders. Throughout the month, the GPF team engaged former volunteers and core organizers, many of whom had previously participated in GPF programs to identify and mentor potential volunteer leads who will form the executive team for the Y4P rollout in May. Drawing on GPF’s values framework of Living for the Greater Good, Dreaming Big, Taking Ownership, and Teamwork, Y4P is designed to help students develop self-awareness, critical thinking, and a commitment to service. The program aims to holistically prepare youth to address societal challenges and inspire transformation within their schools and communities.

Another milestone in April was the participation of Mr. Pach Pagnavorn, General Manager of GPF Cambodia and a member of the United Nations Youth Advisory Panel, as a speaker at TedxCIA on April 5. Speaking under the theme “Into the Unknown,” his talk titled “Living Beyond Yourself” challenged youth to pursue a life of service, purpose, and environmental stewardship.

“I believe that compassion and gratitude, not greed, should drive sustainable change in our communities,” Mr. Pagnavorn said during his talk. Drawing from his own experience as a GPF volunteer, he emphasized the power of youth leadership in transforming societies.

On April 18, GPF Cambodia and GPF Indonesia co-hosted a virtual Young Bridging Leaders (YBL) community call, the first since participants graduated from the program in March 2025. The session emphasized personal growth and peer support, featuring icebreaker activities, discussions on community engagement, and planning for skill development. Participants identified five key areas for growth to be explored in upcoming bi-weekly meetings, reflecting GPF’s commitment to long-term youth leadership development.

A significant highlight of the month was the introduction of the One Korea Global Campaign (OKGC) to students at Toul Kpous Secondary School in Kampong Cham Province. Organized in collaboration with AIESEC LUCT on April 26, the event reached over 320 students and delegates. After being introduced to the campaign’s vision of peaceful Korean reunification and global solidarity, students eagerly participated in GPF’s One Korea Global Campaign signature drive, demonstrating their support.

Beyond the numbers, the true success of the Youth Development Program lies in its long-term vision of equipping youth with the tools and values to lead ethical, inclusive, and peaceful communities. By rooting their approach in the GPF framework of “living for the greater good,” the programs in Cambodia are helping to cultivate a new generation of leaders who dream big, take ownership of challenges, and work together to build a better world.
