Testimony from a President’s Fellowship graduate.
The Global Peace Foundation (GPF) Kenya and the Chandaria Foundation hosted the 5th Cohort of the President’s Fellowship and Chandaria Legacy Awards on November 28, 2025, at Daystar University in Athi River, outside Nairobi, Kenya. The event recognized young people for their moral and ethical leadership, as well as their innovative solutions that have had a transformative impact in Kenya.
Additionally, the event marked the second sowing at the Chandaria-Daystar University Tree Nursery, which supports Kenya’s tree-growing initiative and promotes youth involvement in environmental sustainability activities.
As reported by KTN News Kenya, over 100 graduating fellows from Kenya’s 47 counties were celebrated at the ceremony, which was presided over by the Honorable Salim Mvuyra, Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports. Distinguished attendees included “senior university officials, philanthropists, partners, and leaders committed to nurturing Kenya’s next generation of ethical and innovative change makers.”
The President’s Fellowship, sponsored by GPF Kenya in partnership with the Chandaria Foundation and the Ministry of Youth Affairs, provides young leaders with mentoring, leadership development, and networking opportunities. During their participation in the one-year program, the fellows acquire the knowledge, skills, and values-based training necessary to become positive community change makers. Furthermore, the Chandaria Legacy Awards acknowledge the fellows for their moral, ethical, and innovative leadership in addressing global challenges, including climate action, mental health, digital transformation, peacebuilding, and social entrepreneurship.
Together, the President’s Fellowship and the Chandaria Legacy Awards empower young leaders and amplify their voices as they work to achieve environmental sustainability, social cohesion, and peaceful coexistence.
