“If we insist that we are an extension of one people; it doesn’t matter our ethnicity; it does not matter our religion; but we are one people under God, all these initiatives will come to fruition,” affirmed Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda, underscoring Global Peace Foundation’s vision and its impact on major issues being addressed by GPF around the world.
The panel of GPF representatives from the Philippines, Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, and Korea described three major initiatives in the third plenary of the 2017 Global Peace Convention held on March 2: Models of Community Development, Interfaith Programs to Tackle Identity-based Conflicts and Violent Extremism, and Korean reunification.
John Oko, Country Director of Global Peace Foundation Nigiera described the real and lasting outcomes of the One Family Under God peacebuilding campaign in Kaduna State, Nigeria pioneered by Global Peace Interfaith Awardees Rev. Hayab and Sheik Maraya.

Global Peace Foundation Korea President Inteck Seo introduced the One K Global Campaign, a grassroots campaign supported by Action for Korea United, the largest civil society coalition in Korea advocating for Korean reunification, that has connected people of the world to a grassroots effort for Korean reunification and global peace. The campaign was launched in August 2016 at the Global Youth Summit held at the United Nations General Assembly Hall, building off the momentum of the One Korea Campaign in 2015.

Other distinguished speakers of Plenary III of the Global Peace Convention 2017 included the Honorable Francis Xavier Ole Kaparo, Chairman of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), and Dr. Chan-il Ahn, President of the World Institute for North Korean Studies, who comented on the relevance and importance of the Global Peace Foundation’s values-based approach to peacebuilding that is generating a global network of partners and supporters to tackle the most pressing and complex issues of the world today.
The 2017 Global Peace Convention concluded on Thursday, March 2, followed by the One Korea Global Peace Concert in Manila, Philippines.
