Deep-seated religious divisions between Muslims and Christians were brought to the forefront after the 2011 elections drove many residents and businesses from Kaduna state.

The One Family under God campaign, initiated by the Global Peace Foundation – Nigeria has been working with local religious leaders and tribal rulers to train local leaders in sensitization and community building.

Today, residents see marked differences. Muslim and Christian women are doing community activities together. Muslim and Christian co-workers are going to work together. Residents who have weathered the violence are now feeling confident enough to ask former neighbors to return home.
