Global Peace Foundation (GPF) Nigeria organized a 1-day capacity-building workshop for 80 women and youth leaders as well as another separate workshop for 80 faith and traditional leaders on October 10 and 11, 2022. The workshops are the first following the launch of GPF Nigeria’s peacebuilding campaign in Kagoro Chiefdom.

Organizers conducted a conflict and needs assessment in September 2022 that revealed many people in the area turned to violence because they felt they lacked sufficient skills to deal with conflict through dialogue. Therefore, the training provided in these workshops introduced methods and processes for conflict resolution and mediation while outlining the role human rights, identity, values, and origin play in religious tolerance. Participants were encouraged to use the GPF peacebuilding toolkit as a guide to promoting dialogue, negotiation, tolerance, and understanding within the chiefdom.
