2025 President’s Fellowship – Chandaria Legacy Award Ceremony
Global Peace Foundation (GPF) Kenya strengthened its youth leadership development agenda through a dual milestone event held in November 2025 at Athi River area: the launch of the second sowing of the Chandaria–Daystar University Tree Nursery and the graduation of the fifth cohort of the President’s Fellowship – Chandaria Legacy Award Program. Convened in partnership with Daystar University, the Chandaria Foundation, KCB Foundation, and UNICAF, the event brought together more than 100 graduating fellows, university leaders, philanthropic partners, and public sector stakeholders committed to nurturing ethical, innovative, and service-oriented young leaders.
The ceremony was officiated by the Honorable Salim Mvurya, EGH, cabinet secretary for the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy & Sports, who stressed the importance of investing in youth as drivers of sustainable development and social cohesion. At the launch of the tree nursery initiative, the cabinet secretary highlighted the role of youth-led environmental action in advancing Kenya’s tree-growing agenda and building long-term stewardship of natural resources.
The event transitioned to the graduation of the 2025 President’s Fellowship – Chandaria Legacy Award recipients, a flagship youth leadership program led by GPF Kenya that has mentored over 500 young leaders since 2021. In his keynote address, Hon. Mvurya commended the fellows for their discipline, service, and resilience throughout the program, emphasizing that leadership grounded in character and service is essential for national transformation.
