On February 23, 2025, Global Peace Foundation (GPF) India organized a clean-up drive near the Yamuna River in Wazirabad. The purpose of this initiative was to restore cleanliness in the surrounding areas and raise awareness about environmental protection. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from local community members, volunteers, and environment advocates, all united in their mission to protect the river from pollution.

The program commenced with a welcome session for the guests, during which the GPF India team emphasized the importance of the clean-up drive and shared essential guidelines. Volunteers were briefed on proper waste segregation techniques, including the importance of separating paper, plastic, wet, and dry waste to ensure effective disposal and recycling.

Once the orientation was complete, participants divided into groups to tackle different areas. Some focused on clearing the riverbank, while others collected accumulated waste from the Yamuna’s water. Special attention was given to removing plastic waste, as it is a major threat to the river’s ecosystem. Volunteers worked diligently to extract plastic debris and prevent further contamination.
