Global Peace Youth Exchange Thailand 2016 hosted more than 200 students from top local universities and colleges with delegates representing 11 countries (India, China, Pakistan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines, Malaysia, South Korea, USA, and Albania). By emphasizing moral and innovative leadership for peace and development, international youth are taking ownership for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) implimented by the United Nations.
GPYE is a transformative program that empowers youth to be agents of peace and sustainable development. Through participation in decision-making and creative implementation of the United Nation’s SDGs, GPYE participants from diverse backgrounds exchanged ideas on local and global issues. GPYE encourages youth leaders to find positive solutions, foster cooperation to strengthen and discover inherent qualities within themselves through volunteering service on environmental conservation programs, and participate in workshops on peace and leadership at world-renowned institutions.
Partners include UNESCAP, UNEP Asia Pacific, the World Assembly of Youth, and schools, including Thammasat University and Smut Songkhram Technical College, and governmental institutions within the Samutsongkhram Province.
