In the aftermath of Bagyong Kristine, the Bicol Region was devastated, with homes, livelihoods, and critical infrastructure damaged or destroyed. Families urgently needed food, clean water, and essential supplies, and the path to recovery looked daunting.
Communities affected by the storm struggled with displacement, access to basic necessities, and the emotional toll of rebuilding.
Recognizing these urgent needs, the Global Peace Foundation Philippines, Bless Microfinance Corporation (BMC), and the Department of Education Region V took immediate action. On November 14, 2024, they gathered at Nabua National High School Civic Center to provide relief packs to 500 affected families in Nabua, Camarines Sur. Relief packs containing food, and other essentials were distributed to help families meet their basic needs during this challenging time.
During the distribution, Ms. Jocelyn Remigio, GPF Philippines’ Program Director for Community Development, delivered heartfelt messages of support on behalf of GPF Philippines Executive Director Leonard Faustino and BMC President and CEO Marie Beatriz Mendoza. “The strength of a community lies in its unity,” Mr. Faustino said, encouraging the residents to stay resilient. Ms. Mendoza expressed deep sympathy for the affected families and pledged continued support as they recovered from the storm’s impact.
Dr. Lilibeth F. Moralde, Principal of Nabua National High School, and Ms. Norma B. Samantela, CESO VI Schools Division Superintendent of Camarines Sur, expressed profound gratitude and encouragement to the community, acknowledging their perseverance and the strength that has carried them through these challenging times.
This brought a sense of hope and comfort, reassuring the people that they were not alone in facing these difficult times. Together, let us continue to stand with those in need, lending our hands and hearts to help rebuild lives and communities.
