Global Peace Foundation Nigeria Showcases Impactful Peacebuilding Initiatives at International Non-Violent Communication Training

On December 5, 2024, Global Peace Foundation (GPF) Nigeria participated in the International Training on Non-Violent Communication, held at the Daughters of Divine Love Retreat and Conference Centre in Aco-Lugbe, Abuja. The event provided an unparalleled opportunity for GPF Nigeria to showcase its transformative initiatives promoting peaceful coexistence and interfaith harmony under the banner, “We Are One Family under God.”

GPF Nigeria’s exhibition stand attracted over 90 participants, including trainers, trainees, and guests from diverse faiths and cultures. The vibrant setup and the organization’s compelling message inspired meaningful conversations about mitigating violence and fostering unity. GPF Nigeria’s senior programs manager, Abdul Ahmed, and Youth and Education Development Officer Rimpyen Danjuma Yohana led the delegation, engaging visitors with success stories, publications, and multimedia materials documenting GPF’s impactful work.

Participants gained insights into GPF Nigeria’s three-pronged peacebuilding approach: interfaith leadership, strengthening families, and building a culture of service. This holistic model was well-received, with many visitors expressing interest in future collaborations.

Among the highlights was GPF Nigeria’s “One Family under God” campaign, which emphasizes shared values to bridge societal divides. Visitors like Joshua Patroba, Assistant Trainer, Centre for Nonviolent Communication (Kenya), and Rev. Sr. Angela Ogu from Nigeria lauded the organization’s efforts to promote interfaith harmony and family-centric initiatives. Facilitators, including Duke Duckscherer, Trainer, and Centre for Nonviolent Communication (Canada), appreciated the global reach of GPF’s programs and encouraged broader dissemination of its mission.

The exhibition underscored the importance of collaboration in peacebuilding. Attendees from Africa, North America, and Europe contributed perspectives that enriched discussions on non-violent communication. GPF Nigeria’s participation facilitated the exchange of ideas and best practices, fostering an environment of mutual learning and respect.
