Ubuntu Africa Youth Assembly Series 2 – Building Hope at Home: Ubuntu, Ethical Leadership, and Creating an Africa Where Every Young Person Can Flourish
Africa’s youth are at the heart of the continent’s future. With more than 400 million people aged 18–35, investing in young people’s leadership, education, creativity, and opportunities is essential to creating an Africa where migration is a choice rather than a necessity. Through ethical leadership, accountable governance, job creation, innovation, peacebuilding, and responsible citizenship, Africa can build a future where talent thrives and communities flourish.

About this event

Every year, countless young Africans undertake dangerous journeys across deserts and seas in search of safety, education, employment, and dignity. Many perish or become victims of trafficking, exploitation, detention, or forced labor. These migration patterns reflect not only economic challenges but also crises of governance, opportunity, social trust, and hope.

As we grapple with migration as a security or humanitarian issue, this theme invites us to imagine and build an Africa where leaving becomes a choice rather than a necessity. Inspired by Ubuntu and the African Renaissance, participants would appreciate how ethical leadership, accountable governance, quality education, job creation, innovation, peacebuilding, and responsible citizenship can restore confidence in Africa’s future.

With more than 400 million people within the 18-35 age bracket, Africa is the youngest continent in the world, and the meaningful involvement of the youth in African affairs is highly consequential for building a better future for the continent. The continent’s greatest resource is not its minerals or natural wealth, but its young people. Investing in their leadership, creativity, and moral formation is essential for transforming Africa into a place where talent thrives and communities flourish.
