This Wednesday, authorities participated in a ceremony to commence work to asphalt the Caazapá-Yuty section of route 8, an 84 kilometers stretch. The official launch is scheduled for later this month.

The project to asphalt the Caazapá-Yuty stretch of Route 8, also called “Dr. Blas Garay,” will benefit cities like Caazapá, Yegros, Maciel, Bertoni and Yuty. According to the MOPC, with an investment of US $78 million, construction would span at least three decades, starting this June.

“The long awaited day for the overlooked community of Caazapá has come. Our presence here today is the result of the responsible, thorough, and transparent policy of President Horacio Cartes. It is the result of policy and vision that is not based on popularity or a lie,” said the Minister of public works and communications, Ramón Jiménez Gaona, during the official ceremony.

According to the MOPC (Ministry of Public Works and Communications), this is the first large project that this government has initiative, after going through preliminary stages of administrative, financial, and budgetary management.

Besides Jiménez Gaona, other authorities of the MOPC, authorities of localities and departments, Dr. Hyun Jin Moon, founder and chairman of the Global Peace Foundation, Myung Jae Kang, Ambassador of South Korea, and Yung Kil Kang, President and CEO of Ilsung Construction Co. Ltd., the company awarded the contract for the project.

“The Paraguayan Government has much interest in having international companies enter the Paraguayan economy and liaise with local companies. The country would benefit from the transfer of technology, knowledge, management skills and best practices,” said the minister.
