The COVID-19 global pandemic was a time that tested the resilience, strength, and unity of people and their communities. As the world bounces back, there have been efforts and hope to build a better world.
In the Philippines, Global Peace Women and Global Peace Foundation made effort to bring joy, hope, and love during December – the month of giving with an open house Christmas Pantry and Christmas Gift Giving, reaching more than 600 families.
Ahna Mira, Country Coordinator of GPW Philippines and other partners, GPF-Philippines, Inner Wheel Club, Rotary, and local municipalities, set up Christmas Pantries in neighborhoods. The pantries were filled with chocolates, candies, and Christmas gift baskets for both children and parents. The Mira family welcomed everyone with open arms and warm hearts.
To those who could not make it to the pantry site, GPW, GPF Philippines, and partners distributed Christmas gift boxes to 640 families from Quezon City to Pulong Dalig. The special season of gift-giving brought smiles to many children and families who have been through a difficult time through the pandemic.
As Ahna Mira said, “Kindness is Contagious.” Kindness, love, and cooperation have inspired a wave of giving through months of giving.
GPW Philippines has partnered with organizations such as YWCA-FFPI, She Matters, Joy of Giving, and Inner Wheel Clubs of the Philippines for the season of giving. GPW looks forward to working together in partnership to help families and expand the vision of peace through One Family Under God.
