More than 80 young professionals participated in the Global Peace Youth Assembly organized by Global Peace Foundation (GPF) Indonesia and Komunitas Image Universitas Atmaja, a local university in Yogyakarta, to explore the effects and role of media in peace and development on April 7.
The leadership training assembly was followed weeks later by a two-day adventure challenge to reinforce leadership values and teamwork. Youth spent three hours at sea to get to an island, riding by bike, some for the first time, to reach Saung Beach where they would participate in a coastal clean up in commemoration of Earth Day. Through exercises designed to push participants to surpass their preconstructed limitations, the young leaders discovered their strengths and weaknesses and got connected to a network of other young people dedicated to using their interests and skills to explore solutions to Sustainable Development Goals.
