Youth of Cross-Community Engagement (CCE) – Global Peace Foundation’s pilot prevention program to educate youth leaders with collaborative competencies from diverse backgrounds as a counter-measure to violence – held a town hall meeting in Jersey City, USA on April 25.

Using an approach that has over 30 years of success in Ireland, the CCE program utilizes awareness of identity-based attitudes and behaviors as a means to prevent violence in communities. The youth of CCE, who range in age from nine to seventeen, have recently engaged with faith-based organizations and churches, government institutions and NGOs to address the fatal deaths caused by violent crime in Jersey City.

At the town hall meeting, CCE member Ry’yana King told HudInfoNews she advocated for CCE as a program that “empowers youth and gives them a voice.”
