In the bustling streets of Karawal Nagar, amidst the challenges of poverty and limited resources, a beacon of hope shines bright for the children of the community. For the past year and a half, the Global Peace Foundation (GPF) India has been running the Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (VK) Learning Center, a sanctuary of education and enrichment for the young minds of the slum area.
Established with a vision to provide holistic education, the center focuses on academic learning and integrates activity games and sports into its curriculum. These kids were taught for a year and a half in the center to bridge the gap and prepare them for formal schooling. Children found a nurturing environment at the center where learning is not just confined to textbooks but extends to the playground and beyond.
The ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, meaning ‘the world is one family,’ underlines every aspect of the center’s operation. Here, children from diverse backgrounds come together, transcending social and economic barriers, to learn, play, and grow. Through collaborative activities and shared experiences, the center fosters a sense of unity and belonging among its young learners.

On April 12, 2024, a momentous occasion marked another milestone in the journey of GPF India and the children it serves. Forty eager faces, representing dreams as vast as the sky, were enrolled in MCD Primary School, a testament to the dedication and impact of the Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam Learning Center. The doors to formal education have been opened for these children, paving the way for a brighter future filled with opportunities.
The success of GPF India’s initiative lies in the number of children admitted to school and the transformation it brings to their lives. Beyond academic knowledge, the center instills values of resilience, empathy, and determination, preparing its students to navigate life’s challenges with confidence and compassion.
