GPYC-Kenya led a challenge hike for rising U-gen leaders on the Ngong Hills, made famous by the novel to film “Out of Africa”, at the conclusion of their two-day capacity building workshop.

Daniel Juma, GPF Kenya country representative, and veteran from the Outdoor Challenge Workshop held for international leaders of GPF in February, led the hike up the hills that overlook the Nairobi National Park game reserve to the east, and the Great Rift Valley to the west, with the highest elevation of 1000 meters.

Over 20 young leaders challenged to push beyond their limitations as they trained to become moral and innovative leaders who can work towards sustainable peace and development.

U-Gen is training these current and future leaders of Kenya on the principles and values that undergird moral and innovative leadership. Among these are dreaming big dreams that encompass not only individual fulfillment, but the betterment of their nation, their region, their continent and world. And also includes ownership, accountability and teamwork.

In his recent speech for Madaraka Day, President Kenyatta renewed his commitment to investing in the education, employment and well-being of youth, “in whom the future of our country is embodied” Moreover he called upon all Kenyans, “to rededicate ourselves to the development of our beloved motherland. Let us also embrace the ideals of patriotism, hard work and selflessness that underpinned the struggle for self-rule.”

U-gen is with working in hearts of universities and communities with a new generation of Kenyans who are preparing to realize the Kenyan Dream.
