International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations as an annual devotion to strengthening the ideals of peace within and between nations.
Local leaders and stakeholders in Tanzania have come together on September 21st for the past 3 years to commemorate the International Day of Peace. Partners have included the United Nations family led by UNIC Dar es salaam, Jane Goodall Institute, Youth of United Nations Association of Tanzania, Inter-religious Peace Council of Tanzania-IRPCT, Organization for Peace and Conesus, Internet Society of Tanzania, Canter for Foreign Relations, Forum for Climate Change (ForumCC), International Organization for Migration, Tanzania Youth Coalition (TYC), Mulika Tanzania, PLPDF, PRST AREPEB, and the Bright Jamii Initiative.
