Mr. Jaap van Hierden has been appointed as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Mongolia by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, effective January 1, 2025, with the approval of the host Government. As the highest-ranking UN official in Mongolia, he represents both the UN Secretary-General and the UN Development System. He previously served as the first UN Resident Coordinator for the Multi-Country Office in Micronesia and held roles with Cordaid, UNOPS, UNDP, and UNCDF in Asia and beyond. With over 30 years of experience in development, humanitarian work, and peacebuilding, he has led offices and projects across multiple countries.
