Most Rev. Tan Sri Murphy Nicholas Xavier Pakiam is the Head of the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, encompassing the States of Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Terengganu and Kuala Lumpur. He was appointed as the 3rd Archbishop of the Kuala Lumpur in 2003. As the Spiritual Leader of approximately 170,796 Catholics in the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur, he has the task of teaching, reaching and ministering to the spiritual needs of his people. He is active in promoting Inter-religious Dialogue and dialogging with Muslim scholars in the country. He was appointed by the Vatican to serve as a member of the Pontifical Council for Inter-Religious Dialogue.
