Jong-wook Chung, Vice President of Presidential Committee for Unification Preparation, earned his PhD in political science at Yale University (1975) and served as a diplomatic science professor at Seoul National University before entering government service in 1993. He served as National Security Advisor to the President Young-sam Kim and Korean Ambassador to China for two years from 1996.
He is currently teaching students as a distinguished professor of Incheon National University and serving as an advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Unification and the Ministry of National Defense, Member of the Presidential Commission for the 21st Century and President of Korean Association of Socialist Studies.
He also served as an acting assistant professor of political science at Yale University and an assistant professor at American University. He also taught students at Claremont McKenna College, Georgoe Washington University and Harvard University.
