Hon. Maria Georgina de Venecia is the Founder of four national welfare institutions for the shelter and support of abused women, street children, senior citizens and disadvantaged orphaned mothers. She is also instrumental in the establishment of the Women’s Desk in all police precincts, nationwide that handles children’s and gender-sensitive cases. She is a Representative in the 15th Congress of the Philippines and the President of the Association of Women Legislators Foundation, Incorporated. She is married to the five-time Speaker of the Philippines’ House of Representatives, Jose De Venecia.
