Dr. Zhongyi Zhang is the deputy secretary-general of the Charhar Institute and director of the Yonsei-Charhar Center. He studied at Kim Il-sung University in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and later joined Xinhua News Agency, where he reported on the Korean peninsula and Asia-Pacific affairs. He was Xinhua’s
first correspondent dispatched to the Republic of Korea. Dr. Zhang also served as executive president and editor-in-chief of the Korean edition of China magazine (China International Publishing Group), and editor-in-chief of the Chinese edition of Aju Economic News. He previously served as professor in charge at the Institute of Political Economy and Academic Research, Graduate School of Politics, Kyonggi University, and visiting professor at the Seoul Media Institute of Technology.
