Dr. Vladimir Ivanov is an adjunct senior fellow at the Henry L. Stimson Center. He leads programmatic efforts focused on fostering understanding between Russia and other countries to prevent inadvertent conflict escalation and improve cooperation on shared global challenges. Prior to joining the Stimson Center, Dr. Ivanov served as director of the Russia and United States Program at the EastWest Institute and led the EWI Moscow Office. In these roles, he facilitated U.S.-Russia Track 2 dialogues on military cooperation, strategic stability, counterterrorism, and narcotics trafficking—particularly concerning Afghanistan. Dr. Ivanov holds a Ph.D. in history and a degree from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, where he began his career as a professor of public relations. He has also worked as a journalist and public relations executive with Fleishman-Hillard, Inc.
and the Sibirsky Aluminium Group.
