Dr. Pil-hyun Koo is Director General at AsiaToday News and a senior journalist specializing in defense, security, and the defense industry. He also serves as Country Director for PMC, leading ODA projects in Egypt and Rwanda. Dr. Koo brings deep expertise from senior roles in both industry and finance, having served as International Finance & Investor Relations Executive at Hyundai Motor Group (Seoul HQ) and as a Global Automotive Analyst at Standard & Poor’s (London HQ). He was also a researcher at the Agency for Defense Development (ADD) and worked with PwC in Detroit. In academia, he is a professor at Pyongyang University of Science and Technology. Dr. Koo completed his undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral coursework in Business Administration at Sungkyunkwan University, and holds a Ph.D. in Development Studies from SOAS, University of London. His work bridges development, security policy, and global finance.
