Dr. Gwy-Am Shin received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in the Department of Microbiology from Seoul National University, Korea in 1987 and 1989. Then, he went to the United States of America and entered a Ph.D program at the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He earned a Ph.D degree in 1998 and he worked at the same University as a post-doc and a research professor. then, he became a regular professor at the University of Washington until he came back to korea. he is currently a professor in the Department of Environmental Engineering at Ajou University. His research interests include environmental microbiology, water and wastewater treatment, international water quality, and appropirate technology.
