Dr. Claire Alicia Nelson is Chief Ideation Leader of The Futures Forum, a research and education practice specializing in strategic foresight and sustainability engineering. Recognized by Forbes as one of the world’s top 50 female futurists, she is the author of Smart Futures for a Flourishing World and a sought-after global speaker. She serves as Convenor of the Caribbean Space Society and Open Afrika Space Ungana, Global Ambassador for UN International Moon Day, and an advisory board member for Space for Humanity, while actively contributing to leading professional futurist organizations. Dr. Nelson previously served for over 30 years at the Inter-American Development Bank, where she was a thought leader in advancing development effectiveness through strategic foresight and equity-focused initiatives. She is the Founding President of the Institute of Caribbean Studies and played a leading role in establishing June as National Caribbean American Heritage Month. She holds advanced degrees in engineering, including a doctorate in Engineering Management from George Washington University, and is recognized as the first Jamaican woman to earn a doctorate in an engineering discipline. In 2012, she was honored as a White House Champion of Change.
