Session 3: Disaster Response and Risk Reduction and Youth Capacity Building: Philippines and Rise Nepal Case Studies
Recent global disasters have emphasized the need for policies and strategies for disaster prevention, preparedness, and mitigation. In the aftermath of natural disasters that affect millions of lives, a large percentage impacted are young people who also serve as first responders in the communities. This session featured disaster risk reduction to advance resilient communities and capacity building for disaster response, especially among youth, with case studies of disaster response following the 2013 super typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines and 2015 mega-earthquake in Nepal.
