Port of Harlem featured Global Peace Foundation’s Safer Maryland Campaign, a program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to promote community-driven peacebuilding.

The Safer Maryland Campaign is raising awareness of targeted violence, building resilience, and strengthening community safety via webinars and in-person training. The Safer Maryland Campaign is funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The program is seeking community partners, who serve as hosts and receive up to $500 in compensation, to help them share the information.

The training includes understanding keywords and terminology, sharing safety tips, and connecting the community to services and resources. The training is offered online and in-person.

“We were pleased with the turnout for the first webinar and are interested in partnering with groups in the community to expand our reach and our audience,” said Cat Lockman, Project Lead, Global Peace Foundation (GPF), the group providing the training. Community partners include faith-based groups, colleges and universities, nonprofits, and other community-based organizations.
