His Excellency Mr. Peter Gregory greeting GPF Senior Advisor Alan Inman
Acknowledging the essential role of youth in fostering social cohesion and promoting sustainable peace, the Global Peace Foundation (GPF) empowers young people by providing various opportunities for them to grow and learn as leaders through meaningful dialogue on relevant topics. On October 5, 2025, Rev. Father Canice Chinyeaka Enyiaka, GPF’s director of the African Peace Initiative and Engagement, moderated the inaugural Ubuntu Africa Youth Assembly Series webinar as part of its African Renaissance Initiative.
With a theme of Ethical Leadership and Empowering Youth, His Excellency Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, CON, was the webinar’s guest speaker. Several news agencies reported on the significance of the event, highlighting Mr. Obi’s combined business and government leadership experience, demand for ethical leadership in the spirit of Ubuntu, and support of young people as Africa’s greatest asset.
According to Amos Tauna, in his “Daily Post” article, It’s time to demand good leadership in Africa – Obi, “Obi said, ‘nations are measured by the quality of their human capital, selfishness and corruption have continued to kill entrepreneurship and impoverish Africa. The Ubuntu philosophy is about building a better humanity where no one is afraid of the success of others.’
Additionally, Mr. Obi’s desire for ethical leadership and increased productivity was reported by Austine Agbo Emmanuel in his online article, Africa Shouldn’t Be Hungry with 60% Arable Land – Peter Obi Tasks African Leaders on Ethical Governance, Productive Economy, published by “Digital News NG.” He noted that “Obi described Africa’s youthful population—estimated at over 400 million—as the continent’s greatest asset, urging governments to create enabling environments for innovation, skills development, and productive engagement of young people.”
Fr. Enyiaka ended the webinar by reaffirming GPF’s ongoing commitment to empowering young people to become an active part of the African Renaissance while stressing that “We need leaders who recognize and promote the dignity of every human being. We need leaders who are passionate about the true meaning of sustainable development.”
