Newsdiary reports that the Global Peace Foundation-Nigeria has advised religious and traditional leaders in the country to encourage peace saying that no country can develop otherwise.
During a recent three-day capacity building training of traditional rulers, Christians and Muslims leaders as well as community leaders in Kaduna, Country Director of the Global Peace Foundation, John Oko, urged preaching peace for the survival of the country.
Nigerians must live in peace “because the country cannot develop in the absence of peace,” said Oko.
The northern coordinator of the Global Peace Foundation, Rev. John Joseph Hayab, said the “One Family under God” campaign by the Global Peace Foundation, is a value-based peacebuilding and conflict prevention initiative that seeks to mitigate sectarian violence by changing attitudes and behaviors that drive identity-based conflict. The campaign is piloted in six communities in the state.
Rev. Hayab said Nigerians must understand that they are members of one family under God regardless of their race, religion and ethnicity.
