In commemoration of the 80th National Liberation Day of Korea, the 2025 International Forum on One Korea brought together global leaders, policymakers, civil society advocates, youth, and diaspora communities to advance a vision for a free and unified Korea—one rooted in the shared identity, values, and aspirations of the Korean people.
On August 14, a series of high-level roundtable discussions highlighted Korea’s pivotal role in promoting global peace, environmental sustainability, and inclusive development. Participants from across Asia, Africa, the Americas, and Europe examined innovative approaches to cross-border cooperation—through reforestation initiatives, peacebuilding efforts, and grassroots leadership.
Key sessions included:
- Environmental Forestation and Cross-Border Peace Initiatives, spotlighting youth and civil society collaboration across Korea, Mongolia, China, and beyond.
- Lessons from Latin America and Africa shared tested models of peace and development from the Global South.
- The Role of the Korean Diaspora explored how more than 7 million overseas Koreans can become powerful agents for reunification.
Day one concluded with the Action for Korea United Banquet Commemorating the 80th National Liberation Day of Korea. The event celebrated the historic significance of Korea’s liberation and reaffirmed the collective commitment to building a peaceful and unified future for the Korean Peninsula.
