On September 21, 2024, Global Peace Foundation Nigeria commemorated the International Day of Peace with a one-day awareness campaign in Agaie Local Government Area, Niger State. This event aimed to promote peaceful coexistence among the diverse ethnic and religious communities, building on previous efforts in the nearby Lapai area. Key leaders and traditional title holders attended, reflecting strong local support for peace initiatives.
Rev. John Joseph Hayab, representing GPF Nigeria, emphasized the critical role of peace in socio-economic development and discussed the theme “Cultivating a Culture of Peace.” He called for respect, tolerance, and cooperation among communities. Keynote speakers, including education expert Alhaji Mohammed Katun, highlighted the importance of educational institutions in fostering peace, while Mallam Yau Adamu Bayero addressed the impact of drug abuse on societal harmony.
The event included a drama presentation by local students and messages of support from law enforcement representatives, underscoring a collective commitment to peace and unity within the community.
