When it comes to the dream of a unified Korea, the world has a vital role to play. In March 2025, India stepped into that role with renewed purpose, as the Global Peace Foundation (GPF) India hosted a powerful lecture series featuring Dr. Kim Dong Su, Senior Advisor at South Korea’s National Institute for Security and Strategy. Through heartfelt dialogue, academic exchange, and cross-cultural solidarity, the week-long initiative amplified a shared vision of a peaceful and united Korea. The lecture series was part of the One Korea Global Campaign, a growing international movement that places Korean reunification not only as a national goal but also as a global responsibility, one that requires the solidarity of civil society, governments, and youth worldwide.

Dr. Kim arrived in New Delhi with a clear message: The Korean people deserve peace, and the time for unification is now. At the inaugural session on March 25 at GPF India’s Paryavaran Complex office, he outlined the humanitarian urgency of reunification, highlighting the daily struggles faced by North Koreans and the limitations placed on progress due to division. He emphasized the transformative role youth can play, calling them to become torchbearers of a new, united Korea.

At each lecture, whether held at the India International Centre, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Amity University, or in partnership with the Indian Council of International Cooperation (ARSP), one message echoed: Korean reunification is a global peace issue. The continuing division of the Korean Peninsula keeps the region on edge, contributing to global instability, nuclear tension, and human rights crises. Ambassador Sushil Kumar Singhal, Senior Vice-President of ARSP, applauded the campaign’s peacebuilding efforts, while cultural advocates like Shri Narayan Kumar, Honorary Director, ARSP, emphasized the power of diplomacy, dialogue, and shared values. As Dr. Kim addressed audiences ranging from diplomats to university students, he made it clear that international cooperation isn’t just helpful; it’s essential.

India, with its rich history of nonviolent struggle and spiritual diplomacy, has a unique voice to offer. Dr. Markandey Rai, Chairman of GPF India, urged Indian youth and institutions to become active allies in the One Korea movement. Forging potential partnerships with institutions like Amity University and JNU further laid the groundwork for sustained Indo-Korean collaboration in research, awareness, and civil society engagement.

At JNU, a packed lecture hall of students demonstrated the rising interest among India’s next generation in global peace initiatives. Professors and researchers highlighted not only the academic value of studying Korea’s history and politics, but also the moral responsibility to support peaceful unification efforts.

The final lecture at the India International Centre focused on human rights, connecting the dots between reunification, demilitarization, and justice. Dr. Kim reminded the audience that the Korean Dream, a vision of one Korea rooted in shared prosperity and peace, offers answers to the region’s deepest conflicts. He invited all present to take part in the Korean Dream 10 Million Campaign and to stand for unification in August 2025. In a world often divided, the One Korea Global Campaign is a reminder that peace is possible when nations stand together. Through these lectures, India joined hands with Korea, not just in theory, but in conviction. The Korean Dream is no longer just a peninsula’s aspiration; it is a global call to action for individuals and nations to move from conversation to commitment. The unification of Korea is not a matter of policy alone, but rather, it is about dignity, identity, and shared hope for a future beyond borders.

Reunification of Korea begins with solidarity across continents, cultures, and generations.
