The Global Peace Leadership Corps (GPCorps), a global initiative of the Global Peace Foundation, equips young leaders with the skills, networks, and values needed to address social divisions and advance sustainable peace. Through leadership training, service projects, and cross-cultural collaboration, GPCorps supports youth in developing practical solutions to challenges in their communities while strengthening a shared commitment to ethical leadership and cooperation.
South Asia is a strategic region for youth-led peacebuilding. Home to nearly a quarter of the world’s population and one of the largest youth demographics globally, the region holds enormous potential for social transformation. At the same time, it faces persistent challenges including political tensions, social inequality, climate pressures, and intercommunal divisions. Engaging young leaders across borders is therefore critical to fostering dialogue, strengthening trust, and developing collaborative solutions that support long-term peace and stability.
Against this backdrop, the GPCorps South Hub was officially inaugurated on February 27, 2026, in Kathmandu, Nepal. The event marked the launch of a regional platform designed to connect and equip young leaders from across South Asia to collaborate on peacebuilding initiatives.

The gathering brought together 43 young leaders and patrons from Nepal, India, and the United States. Additional participants joined virtually from Bangladesh, Indonesia, India, Costa Rica, and beyond, demonstrating the global nature of the GPCorps network. The mix of in-person and online participation highlighted how youth collaboration increasingly extends beyond national boundaries through both regional partnerships and digital connectivity.
The South Hub aims to serve as a convening space where emerging leaders can exchange ideas, develop joint initiatives, and strengthen their capacity to address the complex issues facing the region. By creating opportunities for dialogue and cooperation among youth from different countries, the hub seeks to encourage solutions that are collaborative rather than competitive.
Participants discussed how youth-led initiatives can contribute to community resilience, social cohesion, and inclusive development. Emphasis was placed on leadership grounded in shared values, service to society, and respect across cultures and faith traditions. These principles are central to the Global Peace Foundation’s approach to peacebuilding, which promotes the vision of humanity as “One Family Under God” and encourages cooperation across cultural and religious lines.

The Kathmandu launch also highlighted the growing international reach of the GPCorps network. Youth leaders from Southeast Asia, North America, and Latin America reflected the expanding global partnerships that support the initiative. These connections allow regional hubs such as the one in South Asia to benefit from shared learning, mentorship, and teamwork with peers around the world.
The establishment of the GPCorps South Hub represents an important step in strengthening youth leadership infrastructure in the region. By connecting young leaders from multiple countries and equipping them with practical tools for community engagement, the hub provides a foundation for sustained cooperation and locally driven peacebuilding.
As the hub continues its work, it will serve as a regional platform for training, collaboration, and action. Through joint initiatives and ongoing engagement, young leaders across South Asia will have new opportunities to co-create solutions that promote stability, cooperation, and sustainable peace both within the region and beyond.
