Painful Hope: Understanding, Non-violence, and Transformation

A Palestinian Israeli Grassroots Initiative Global Peace Foundation USA hosted a forum with two of the founders of this joint grassroots movement in Gush Etzion/Area C Visionaries Ali Abu Awwad and Rabbi Hanan Schlesinger shared their stories of transformation and unlikely coming together at the geographic center of conflict on the West Bank. Separated by mere hundreds of yards, and a chasm of deeply felt fear and suffering – Hanan, Ali and their colleagues have spent over two years modeling a path away from domination and inequality. They are building a unique network of local Palestinians and Israelis, who despite ideological differences, built common projects on shared belief that each People is deeply connected to the Land. They take inspiration from new understanding and nonviolent transformation – each back to their own communities. They come with no ready peace plans in hand, but only with the conviction that human understanding and trust will be the prerequisites for lasting justice, freedom, and peace on that tiny sliver of land that they both call home.  Please register at the link below as seating is limited.
