The 2026 Hangang Unity Festa brought approximately 2,000 participants together in Seoul on September 13, as young people from diverse backgrounds led a celebration of Korean culture, community participation, and social integration. Hosted by Global Peace Foundation (GPF) Korea, the festival created opportunities for families and citizens to connect through traditional games, cultural activities, performances, and messages of hope for Korean unification.

Led by the Hangang Unity Planning Committee, the event united youth from South and North Korea, ethnic Korean communities abroad, and other international backgrounds in a shared effort to promote understanding and a sense of belonging. Through their collaboration and flash mob performance, the young organizers showed how people can build connections across differences through shared cultural experiences and community action.

The festival advances the vision of the One Korea Global Campaign, which promotes a unified Korea built on shared values, common identity, and the participation of people across generations and backgrounds. By bringing citizens together to celebrate their cultural heritage and express hope for a future of greater unity, the Hangang Unity Festa contributes to the campaign’s efforts to foster a vision of Korean unification rooted in people-to-people connection and a shared Korean Dream.
