In May 2026, Global Peace Foundation (GPF) Nepal strengthened its commitment to developing values-based young leaders through a series of Moral and Innovative Leadership workshops that reached students and youth across schools, colleges, and cross-cultural networks. Through these initiatives, young people were equipped not only with leadership skills, but also with the character, vision, and sense of responsibility needed to become positive changemakers in their communities.
Nurturing Character and Leadership Among Students

One of the highlights of the month was a transformative three-day workshop held for 30 students from British Gurkha College. Through interactive discussions, teamwork exercises, reflective learning, and group presentations, participants explored key leadership concepts, including service and teamwork, vision and ownership, effective communication, conflict analysis, and the importance of understanding the deeper purpose behind leadership.
Students were introduced to the Global Peace Values Framework, which emphasizes Living for the Greater Good, Dream Big, Ownership, Teamwork, and strong character. These principles encouraged participants to view leadership not as authority or influence alone, but as a lifelong journey of personal growth and service to others.
Reflecting on the experience, one participant shared: “My perspective on leadership has changed after this workshop. At first, I thought leadership only meant having good communication skills and the ability to lead a group. Now, I understand that leadership is much deeper than that. It means learning to become a better person and striving for the greater good. True leadership begins with leading your own dreams, values, and actions in a way that can positively impact others and society as a whole. I have also realized that leadership is not something we are simply born with; it is a quality that we can develop and learn every day through experience, self-awareness, and continuous growth.”

Similarly, students from K & K International College engaged in values-based leadership sessions designed to strengthen ethical decision-making and self-awareness. Through collaborative activities and reflective discussions, participants gained a deeper appreciation for the role of character in effective leadership.
One student remarked, “Earlier, I thought leadership was mainly about controlling people and maintaining discipline. But now I understand that true leadership is about building confidence in others, helping team members grow, guiding them with good character, and supporting them to become better individuals.”
The workshops also encouraged young people to embrace volunteering and service as pathways to contributing positively to their communities.
Promoting Peace and Shared Humanity Across Borders

GPF Nepal also convened an inspiring cross-cultural session involving 13 youth from Nepal and Kerala, India. The gathering provided a platform for participants to explore leadership, peacebuilding, and the concept of shared humanity while building meaningful connections across cultures and identities.
Participants learned about the Youth Peace Club Network and discussed how young people can become active agents of social transformation through dialogue, cooperation, and collective action. Using the Conflict Analysis Tree, they examined community challenges, identified root causes, and explored collaborative approaches to addressing them.
The session highlighted how empathy, mutual understanding, and common values can help bridge differences and prevent conflict. Participants also reflected on the importance of character as the foundation of authentic leadership.
As one participant observed, “Before the session, if someone had asked me what the best quality of a leader is, I would have said confidence and decision-making skills. But now, I would say character. I understood the importance of character and how it shapes true leadership.”

Inspiring Future Changemakers
At Bishanku Narayan Secondary School, 50 students participated in a Moral and Innovative Leadership workshop aimed at helping young people envision themselves as future leaders capable of creating positive change. Through group activities and discussions, students identified issues affecting their communities, including quality education, environmental cleanliness, social harmony, youth empowerment, and support for vulnerable populations. They also proposed solutions rooted in service and collaboration.
Participants explored how leadership is expressed through responsibility and commitment to the common good rather than status or personality.
One student reflected, “I used to think leadership was based on personality, appearance, and skills. But now I understand that character and good values are what make a true leader.”
Building a Generation of Moral and Innovative Leaders
A common message emerged across each workshop: leadership begins from within. By helping young people develop strong character, cultivate innovative thinking, and embrace responsibility toward others, GPF Nepal is investing in a generation capable of addressing complex challenges and contributing to nation-building.
These initiatives embody the vision of Global Peace Foundation’s Youth Leadership Development programs, which seek to empower young people with the values, competencies, and collaborative spirit needed to become ethical leaders and architects of peace. Guided by the belief that young people are essential partners in addressing the challenges of their generation, GPF promotes leadership rooted in service, character, and shared values.
Participants now carry new knowledge and a renewed commitment to living for the greater good and to shaping a more peaceful and prosperous future for Nepal and beyond.
