More than two hundred graduates of the Global Peace Foundation (GPF) Cambodia program Global Peace Volunteers gathered at the National University of Management in Phnom Penh for the 5th Global Peace Youth Volunteer Assembly on October 21. The assembly was attended by volunteers, officials from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, and organizers from partners like Global Peace Alliance to celebrate the volunteer program’s major contributions to youth leadership education and service to ten of Cambodia’s primary schools through projects like EnglishEd, GreenEd, and the newly-established Peacebook project.
Thanks to the dedication of the Global Peace Volunteers, Cambodian children furthered their English literacy skills and became more knowledgeable about sustainable development protecting and innovatively utilizing the environment to benefit their communities, many of which are in remote areas of the country.
The award ceremony recognized 114 English Ed teachers, 109 GreenEd volunteers, and 15 Peacebook ambassadors, including special recognition to a handful of graduates with perfect attendance and outstanding performance throughout the 2017-2018 academic year.
