Phumzile Ndlovu is a South African development practitioner, theologian, policy advocate, and community systems strategist based in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. She is the Founding Director of Bridging the Gap South Africa in Pietermaritzburg and currently serves as the Eastern and Southern Africa United Nations Convener for Religious and Traditional Leaders in South Africa Kwazulu Natal. She is also an ex member of the University of KwaZulu-Natal Humanities and Social Sciences Research Ethics Committee. Phumzile is the developer of the Izigodi Model (Village Model), an indigenous community-led framework designed to respond to South Africa’s local socio-economic challenges, including the legacy of apartheid and colonial trauma. She has contributed to national and continental policy, advocacy, and strategy development processes related to HIV, GBVF, and SRH in South Africa. Her participation in the African Union consultations for Traditional Leaders in Ethiopia contributed toward the 2025 Presidential Declaration, which emphasized the central role of traditional leadership in protecting vulnerable communities, particularly women and children. Phumzile Ndlovu continues to champion inclusive, community-driven, and culturally grounded development approaches that bridge policy, traditional leadership, and grassroots transformation across Africa.
