He is a 22-year-old undergraduate student studying Political Science at the University of Alberta.  Raised by a single-mother, Emerson is the oldest of three brothers, and is the first in his family to participate in higher education.

Over the last several years, he has represented more than 30,000 students as a student association executive, researched student attributes and learning outcomes in higher education, contributed articles to media sources such as the Globe and Mail and Huffington Post.

He is an avid marathoner and grew up playing elite baseball and soccer.
