Educators without Borders

He is Endowed Chair Professor of International Cooperation of Seoul Women’s University after having retired from Seoul National University. He is also representing INPO, Educators without Borders (EWB), as Founder, Chairman and Chief Fieldwork Officer since 2007. Korbil is Burkina Faso Honrary Consul to Korea. He opened EWB-USA and serveds as Chair of the Executive Committee. He founded and served as Chair of Global Education Development Co-operation Major, Graduate School, SNU.

As a National Chair professor, selected by the National Research Foundation of Korea in 2009, he has represented developing countries as the leading-edge scholarship on tertiary education. His visiting scholar appontments have been so wide to cover the whole world: Fullbright New Centurty Scholars of Higher Education, Distinguished International Scholar of Paulo Freire Institute-UCLA, the World Bank, OEDC (CERI & DAC), Harvard, Stanford, Kobe University and lately Ministry of Edcation and Sports, DR Lao. He also serves to a variety of domestic and global organizations: a member of the Advisory Committe, Asia-Pacific Center of Education for International Understanding, Consultative member, a member of the Consultative Group of the 6th UNESCO International Conference of Adult Education (CONFINTEA VI 2009), Executive Board Member (Alternate) of UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning, Hamburg, Germany and Chair, Education Committee, the Korean Commission for UNESCO.

In 2013, he was decorated as the Jade Public Service Medal for his 30 years services as professor at SNU. In 2012, he was decorated as the Knight of National Order of Burkina Faso and one year after he won the Gobal Contribution Award from SNU. In 2003, he was selected as a winner of Alumni Achievement Award from the School of Education, UW-Madison, and 10 years later, became a winner of Best Korean Alumni of the Korean Alumni Association.
