H.E. Rafael Ángel Calderón is a former President of the Republic of Costa Rica (1990-1994). Calderón’s government worked in order to fight inequality and reduce poverty, and worked to support art and culture during his tenure. He created the National Center of Culture FANAL, the Costa Rican Center of Science and Culture, the National Gallery, the National Auditorium, and restored the National Theater of Costa Rica and the National Library of Costa Rica.
