Dr. Jong-soo Park built his career at the intersection of academia, diplomacy, and Korea’s New Northern Policy. He served as Counselor (Minister) at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Russia, drawing on his extensive expertise in Russian affairs and Korea-Russia relations. Dr. Park held academic and advisory positions, including Adjunct Professor at Sogang University’s Graduate School of Public Policy and Executive Director of the Northeast Asia Community Culture Foundation. Prior to becoming Chairman, he served as a professional and advisory committee member of the Northern Economic Cooperation Committee. In August 2021, President Moon Jae-in appointed him Chairman of the Committee, where he was tasked with advancing cooperation with northern economies and identifying new engines of growth through the New Northern Policy. He served in the role until August 2022.
