Ambassador Amr Aljowaily is an international civil servant, diplomat, academic and writer with over 35 years of professional experience. He currently holds the post of Director of the Citizens and Diaspora Organizations Directorate within the African Union Commission. As an Egyptian diplomat, he rose to the level of Assistant Foreign Minister for Multilateral Relations and International Security, and served in Belgrade, New York, Geneva, and Washington, D.C. Furthermore, he held leading positions in multilateral organs, and was a member of the Egyptian delegation to high level meetings of the UN and its specialized agencies, the African Union, and the League of Arab States. He holds three master’s degrees from the American University in Cairo (AUC), the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and the University of Malta.
