The Global Peace Foundation (GPF) Nigeria, together with other NGOs and community leaders, has called for a renewed commitment to peacebuilding and respect for the sanctity of human life in Nigeria. In an online seminar titled “Embracing the Sanctity of Life for a Peaceful World,” speakers addressed the urgent need to foster a culture of dialogue, understanding, and unity in the face of ongoing societal challenges.
Reverend John Joseph Hayab, Country Director of GPF Nigeria, expressed deep concern over a recent violent incident in Niger State, describing it as a serious challenge to peace and the rule of law. He emphasized that peaceful societies are built on justice, compassion, and respect for all individuals, and that actions undermining these values must be addressed through lawful and moral channels.
Also speaking, Reverend Dr. Kehinde Babarinde, the national director of the Community Initiative for Enlightenment, Morality, and Value System, highlighted the far-reaching impact of violence—not only on individuals but also on families and communities. He underscored the need to replace cycles of violence with efforts that promote healing, accountability, and shared values.
The leaders collectively urged both the government and citizens to take active roles in promoting the dignity of life, ensuring justice, and encouraging a culture of peace. They affirmed that life is sacred and non-negotiable, and that a peaceful Nigeria can only be achieved through unity, lawfulness, and a shared vision of “One Family under God.”
