While religious, ethnic, and cultural differences often fuel conflict, the Global Peace Foundation (GPF) celebrates diversity, recognizing the inherent value of our shared humanity as the foundation of its vision of One Family Under God. The GPF Malaysia staff and volunteers work tirelessly to foster social cohesion, peaceful coexistence, moral and innovative leadership, and family empowerment. They provide ongoing community support in three overarching areas: basic needs (water, energy, food, and shelter), literacy and livelihood, and community organizing.

First, everyone’s survival depends on having their basic needs met. As such, GPF Malaysia has successfully worked to implement projects that provide families access to clean water and regenerative food farming, houses illuminated by solar-powered lights, and sanitation facilities built by Orang Asli villagers for their own use. Projects such as these benefit families and the community by providing a safe and healthy environment to live in.

Second, education and livelihood skills are key to eradicating poverty. Programs for children and youth provide them the opportunity to develop and grow, learn, and become moral and innovative leaders. GPF Malaysia promotes literacy development and character building with an emphasis on parental engagement to enable youth to reach their fullest potential. Programs such as “Off the Street, On the Ball” foster life skills by empowering youth through football and leadership training.

Third, community organizing is integral to GPF Malaysia’s mission to build resilient and cohesive communities. Fostering participation and decision-making among community members creates unity and a capacity to work together for the community’s collective benefit.
