Global Peace Foundation Kenya Director Daniel Juma was featured on KTN News, a leading 24-hour TV channel for Eastern Africa, to speak on the National Peace Initiative to secure peaceful balloting in the upcoming 2017 presidential election. Other guests included Dr. Alex Awiti, Director Aga khan East African Institute, and Mr. Camlus Omogo, Director CE-WARN.
Kenya is challenged to create a platform for peaceful, credible elections. Bringing together key leaders under the umbrella of Global Peace Foundation is an effort to encourage transparency in the political process and foster a sense of national cohesion to in part relieve the structural instability of the political climate.
The “One Nation under God” campaign is a nationwide peace initiative encouraging youth to be agents of peace who promote social cohesion and counter political incitement and violence. The campaign was first inaugurated in September, addressing leaders from various government agencies, CSO’s and international organizations.
Director Daniel Juma stressed the importance of involving the young population saying, “It must be about the people, not just the politics. We must give hope to the youth.”
